First Bucks for Wheelin' Sportsmen Youth!

Faith 4 ptSaturday Nov. 14th proved to be an exciting day for two of our younger Wheelin' Sportsmen members. Eight year-old Faith Campbell and 12 year-old Joseph Martin returned from their morning hunts sporting their first bucks ever!

Faith, of Bristol, TN, traveled to Panorama Farm outside of Charlottesville and joined five other hunters with disabilities to participate in their 2nd annual hunt. Diagnosed with Juvenile Diabetes just four months ago, she was fortunate to harvest a doe earlier this season. After seeing deer all morning, but not having any shot opportunities, Faith spotted a 4 pointer a hundred yards off. A perfect shot with her muzzleloader, and her first buck ever was on the ground.

After high-fives, hugs, lunch and lots of pictures, Faith returned to her afternoon stand. She and her dad saw deer all afternoon and just before dark, she harvested her second buck of the day, this nice 8 pointer! Way to go Faith! Any hunter would be proud of these two bucks!

Meanwhile, 20 miles away at the Piedmont Chapter Barboursville Hunt, 12 y/o Joseph of Waynesboro had a 4 pointer of his own in the crosshairs of his .243. Accompanied by his Uncle John, and Wheelin' Sportsmen Coordinator Mike Deane, Joseph squeezed off a steady 176 yard shot and had his first buck on the ground too.

Joseph Martin (L) is all smiles after making a great shot on his buck.

Check out all the pics from both hunts in our Wheelin' Sportsmen Photo Gallery.
